CAFF // The Stunt Driver
The Stunt Driver chronicles the dreams and adventures of “The Mad Canadian” daredevil stuntman Ken Carter’s quest to execute a bold stunt of launching a rocket car across the St. Lawrence River from Canada to the United States in the 1970s. Dowse reunites with Jay Baruchel (Goon, Blackberry) who delivers a funny and yet vulnerable portrayal of Carter as he risks it all despite those who insist that it’s an impossible stunt.
Original footage from Robert Fortier’s NFB documentary The Devil at Your Heels is seamlessly adapted for both authenticity but also for comedic effect. By the end of The Stunt Driver, you’ll be both laughing at and rooting for this true Canadian thrill seeker.

Adapted by William Goldman from his own 1973 fantasy novel The Princess Bride: S. Morgenstern’s Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure, The “Good Parts” Version, the film unveils the central adventure through a grandfather’s reading to his bedridden grandson.

CAFF // Antidiva: The Carole Pope Confessions
Based on Pope’s autobiography Anti Diva, the film includes testaments to her legacy from k.d lang, Peaches, Jann Arden, Rufus Wainwright, and Jeanne Beker. Antidiva is the story of a queer rock icon reclaiming her place in the spotlight.
Carole Pope has blazed a trail for the diva and Antidiva in all of us.

CAFF // Late Fame
Written by Samy Burch, who is best known for May December in which she was nominated for the Best Original Screenplay Oscar, the story is based on the posthumously published novella by Arthur Schnitzler. Director Kent Jones and Burch reset the story from turn of the century Vienna to modern day New York.
Anchored by a stand out performance by Willem Dafoe as Saxberger, the film features an ensemble of up and coming actors including Greta Lee and Edmund Donovan.
